Young queen which just started laying (Dylan Elen)

Every year, members of DarkBee.org can rear their own Dark queens via our grafting days. They also have the possibility to use the mating stations of DarkBee.org for controlled mating of those queens. However, both members and non-members can also place reservations with DarkBee.org queen rearers to obtain young queens and/or 5-frame nucs.

The offered queens (unmated / mated at the queen rearers’ apiary (F1) / mated at a mating station of DarkBee.org (F1)) are all daughters of P-queens from selected Dark bee breeding colonies of DarkBee.org; the same applies to the F1-queens on the offered 5-frame nucs. Purely mated queens (P-queens) are currently only made available to members who participate in the Task Force Grafting and the Task Force Selective Breeding of DarkBee.org.

To place a reservation for queens / 5-frame nucs, you should send an email to our rearing administration with subject “RESERVATION”, containing the desired number and type of queens and / or 5-frame nucs (in case of nucs, mention the desired frame size: German Standard or Belgian / Dutch Simplex) and your contact details. You will then be brought into contacted with the queen rearer who is located closest to you and who can meet your demand. Mated queens and 5-frame nucs are usually available from July onwards, rearing queens and nucs continues until September. Payment must be made in cash upon collection. This way you can get the best quality of Dark bees!

The color code in the table below indicates the probability that if you place a reservation now, you will still be able to obtain that reservation in 2020. Green stands for “very likely”, yellow for “possible” and red for “very unlikely”. However, reservations can continue to be placed; reservations that are not completed in 2020 will be transferred to 2021 if the applicant so wishes.
